NOTE: These are open, walk in events organized by the Institute. Any person interested can attend without any registration or charges. Changes and alterations may take place before 4 June. All other regular courses and sessions will continue during Ramazan with altered timings.




JUNE 2016 RAMAZAN SCHEDULE
WALK-IN/OPEN FORUM 

1. THE DAILY QURANIC WORD 
with Syed Uzair Abdullah Qadri & Hamid Raza Fazil. 
The sittings will focus on Surah Fateha and the first 5 ayat of Surah Baqara, and then proceed to selective word, ayat, surah readings suggested by the participants...Mondays to Wednesdays, starting Tuesday 7th June... 

With a post-graduate degree from Punjab University, Syed Uzair Abdullah Qadri belongs to a family connected to the Qadiriyya Sufi Order and known for its scholarly traditions. Syed Uzair has a special interest in Kalam, Quranic Exegesis, the Science of Hadith, Arabic Language & Poetry.

Ustad Hamid Raza Fazil teaches Arabic and Islamic Philosophy at Hastoneest. His interests are in Quranic Exegesis, Philosophy and Sufism/Marifat.

2. SUNDAYS DUROOD-O-SALAAM: 
Sending Salutations Upon the Prophet S.A.W. & Reading Select Sufi Texts in a traditional Sufi structure and format with Syed Fahad Ali Kazmi Zanjani every Sunday starting Sunday 5 JUNE from 3:00 to 4:00 pm.

3. WEDNESDAYS SEERAH of THE PROPHET S.A.W.: 
Reading & discussing the Seerah of the Prophet s.a.w. with Muhammad Suheyl Umer & Waleed Zaman every Wednesday at 7:15 pm. 

4. PHILOSOPHY & MEANING: 
An introduction to the Intellectual Heritage of the Islamic Tradition with detailed discussion on the nature of the terms ‘Knowledge/Ilm’, Ethics/Ikhlaq & Love/Hubb with Taimoor Khan Mumtaz and Hamid Raza.

5. READING ROUNDTABLE: 
Reading & discussing the wisdom of Shaykh ul Akbar Ibn Arabi r.a. with Ehsan Bajwa and friends, starting Saturday 4 June at 7:00 pm.

6. WORLD OF TALES: 
Reading & discussion of wisdom tales from various traditions with Kausar Ali and friends on Saturdays, starting Saturday 4 June from 2:00 to 3:00 pm.

7. WORLD OF TALES FOR CHILDREN: 
Reading & discussing tales of wonder and imagination with Rabia Sultan, on Saturdays starting Saturday 4 June from 2:00 to 3:00 pm.



8. 21st RAMZAN: The Ma’rifat of Imam/Hazrat Ali a.s./r.a. 
- a traditional Salat-o-Salaam mehfil with Syed Fahad Ali Kazmi Zanjani

Dr. Syed Rizwan Zamir’s scholarly interests in Islamic studies include Shi'ite thought and spirituality, Sufi metaphysics, cosmology and psychology, transcendent theosophy of Mulla Sadra, virtue and narrative ethics within the Islamic intellectual context, varieties of Islamic mystical expressions, contemporary debates and trends in Muslim thought, and mystical and intellectual traditions of South Asian Islam. Aside from numerous encyclopedia entries and book reviews, he has written "Descartes and al-Ghazali: Doubt, Certitude and Light" (Islamic Studies, 2010) and "Tafsir al-Qur'an bi 'l Qur'an: The Hermeneutics of Imitation and Adab in Ibn 'Arabi's Interpretation of the Qur'an" (Islamic Studies, 2011), and a book chapter for The Bloomsbury Companion to Islamic Studies (ed. Clinton Bennett, 2013) that surveys the western academic study of Shi'ite Islam.  Since March 2012 he co-chairs the Study of Islam section of the American Academy of Religion, Southeast Region (SECSOR).
